St. Scholastica

Mk 6: 53-56

When they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret and moored the boat. When they got out of the boat, people at once recognized him, and rushed about that whole region and began to bring the sick on mats to wherever they heard he was. And wherever he went, into villages or cities or farms, they laid the sick in the marketplaces, and begged him that they might touch even the fringe of his cloak; and all who touched it were healed.

Looking first to Jesus

Throughout these past few weeks, the Gospel of Mark has consisted of readings where Jesus is constantly in motion, traveling around by foot or by boat.  And the people keep following Jesus and his disciples wherever he goes. 

I look at our world right now and many people, including myself at times, look not for Jesus but elsewhere for answers to questions.  We look elsewhere for remedies for the problems we face in this world. Yet it is only by seeking and searching for God, first and foremost, courageously and relentlessly, where we will ultimately be healed, forgiven, redeemed, and loved.
