John 15:26-16:4A

”When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who comes from the Father, he will testify on my behalf. You also are to testify because you have been with me from the beginning.

”I have said these things to you to keep you from stumbling. They will put you out of the synagogues. Indeed, an hour is coming when those who kill you will think that by doing so they are offering worship to God. And they will do this because they have not known the Father or me. But I have said these things to you so that when their hour comes you may remember that I told you about them.”

Advocates

Advocates…We all need advocates on our behalf. Those people that we trust and confide in. Our “go-tos”. These people give us the continual hopeful encouragement we need especially during times where there is doubt and skepticism all around us. It is during these tough times that we must intentionally seek out our “go-tos” and, through them, we feel the presence of God.

The ultimate advocate, the Holy Spirit is always with us advocating for us. Let us pray to the Holy Spirit to give us the spark to stay the course, trust our instincts, and search for God through our loved ones and through the gifts God has given us. We do all of this with a spirit of gratitude, faith, and love that the power of the Holy Spirit will renew the world around us.

Prayer

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful. 
And kindle in them the fire of your love. 
Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. 
And you will renew the face of the earth.
